BookTot Terms of Use

Who these terms are for

These terms describe the BookTot app provided by BOOKTOT Inc. Subscription decisions and purchases are for adults acting for themselves or supervising a child. Children are not asked to enter a purchase contract. Please read the App Privacy Policy before using subscription features. Contact info@booktot.com with questions.

Free reading and paid access

You can browse the bookshelf and see all covers without subscribing. Pip the Snowman’s Christmas Gift is free. Other books require a verified active subscription. A subscription provides access to the available BookTot library, including illustrations, narration and read-along text, during the valid subscription period. It does not transfer ownership of the stories or create a lifetime purchase.

Plans, prices and payment

Monthly and annual options are offered when available in your store. The app and the store confirmation screen display the applicable price, currency and billing period before you confirm. Annual means one charge for a year, rather than monthly instalments. Taxes and price presentation follow the store and your region. Payment is processed by Google Play on Android or Apple on iOS using your store account. No purchase is completed simply by browsing covers or passing the parental gate.

Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected billing period unless cancelled before renewal under your store’s rules. Your store account is charged when you confirm a purchase and at subsequent renewals. For Apple subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid the next renewal charge; renewal may be charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Google’s renewal timing and any payment authorisations follow Google Play’s terms. Any price change will follow the store’s notice and consent requirements and applicable law. No free trial or introductory offer is promised unless expressly displayed in the store purchase flow.

How to cancel

Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → BookTot → Cancel subscription. iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → BookTot → Cancel Subscription. The parent area also offers Manage subscription. Deleting the app, clearing data, deleting a customer record or contacting support alone does not cancel store billing. Ordinary cancellation stops future renewal; paid access continues to the end of the paid entitlement period unless a refund, revocation or other store decision ends it sooner. See Google’s cancellation instructions or Apple’s cancellation instructions.

Refunds, pending payments and billing problems

Refund eligibility and processing follow the purchasing store’s procedures and applicable consumer law. Cancellation does not automatically refund previous payments. Request Apple refunds at reportaproblem.apple.com; see Google Play’s refund guidance for Google purchases. Pending or unverified purchases do not unlock paid books. Access may continue during a grace period authorised by the store, but may stop on expiry, account hold, refund or revocation. Contact us if a completed purchase is not recognised.

Restore Purchases and device changes

Use Restore Purchases in the parent area while signed into the same Google Play or Apple purchasing account, with an internet connection. A valid eligible subscription can be restored after reinstalling or moving to another device within the same store. The current app does not transfer a Google Play subscription to Apple, or an Apple subscription to Google Play. Restoration does not move reading progress between devices. Family Sharing or access across different store accounts is not promised.

Internet access and availability

Paid access requires regular online verification through the store and RevenueCat. The current app accepts a recently verified subscription for up to five minutes, bounded by its verified entitlement, during a connection interruption; it does not promise extended offline paid reading. When verification cannot be completed, paid reading may pause and you may need to reconnect or restore. The free Pip story does not require a subscription. We aim to keep the service available, but interruptions, compatibility changes or maintenance may occur. Contact support about persistent access problems; your statutory remedies remain available.

Using BookTot responsibly

You may use BookTot for personal, non-commercial reading under the applicable store usage rules. Stories, recordings, artwork, branding and app code remain protected by their owners’ rights. Do not redistribute or sell app content, bypass purchase protection or misuse the service. These restrictions do not override uses permitted by law or applicable open-source licences.

Parents and story content

Parents are responsible for supervising children’s use and controlling store-account purchases. A parental gate helps separate adult actions but is not guaranteed age verification. Stories are for reading, entertainment and general learning; they do not replace individual medical, therapeutic, safety or other professional advice.

Updates and your legal rights

The app and library may receive corrections and updates. We will give appropriate notice of material subscription changes and follow applicable store rules and consumer law. Nothing here excludes mandatory consumer guarantees, privacy rights, refund rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. These terms do not impose mandatory arbitration or remove access to remedies available under your local law.

Apple licensing and store terms

For the iOS app, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement applies to the app licence unless a different valid licence is supplied through the App Store. These terms provide BookTot service and subscription information and do not replace Apple’s Standard EULA. Applicable Apple and Google store terms also apply to purchases; mandatory local law prevails over any conflicting restriction.
