BookTot App Privacy Policy

About this policy

BOOKTOT Inc. operates the BookTot children’s reading app. This policy describes the app and its subscription service. The corporate website has a separate Website Privacy Notice. Parents can contact our privacy contact at info@booktot.com.

For children and parents

Children can browse covers and read the free story without creating a BookTot account. We do not ask children for their name, birth date, email address, photograph, voice recording or school. Purchases, restoration and external links in the parent area are protected by a parental gate. The gate does not establish a person’s age or constitute verified parental consent.

Reading information stays on your device

The app stores reading position for each book and reading settings, such as subtitle and playback preferences, on the device. The current app does not send these reading records to BOOKTOT or RevenueCat and does not synchronise them between devices. Device backup services may retain app data according to your device settings. Clearing app data or uninstalling may remove local progress; a device backup may restore it.

Subscription and technical information

The app connects to RevenueCat when the subscription service starts, including before a purchase, to check access. RevenueCat creates a random app customer identifier; it is not a child’s name, but it can recognise the same app customer over time. RevenueCat and the relevant store process purchase receipts or tokens, transaction and product identifiers, purchase and expiry dates, renewal, refund and billing status, price and currency information, and subscription access records. Requests also carry technical information such as app and SDK version, operating system, locale and network information, including an IP address used to deliver the request. We do not use this information to determine a child’s precise location.

Why this information is used

Subscription information is used to verify purchases, provide and restore paid access, manage renewals and refunds, prevent fraud and resolve billing problems. RevenueCat also provides purchase-history and subscription reporting to BOOKTOT. We do not send children’s reading activity to these reports. The app does not include advertising, behavioural advertising, advertising attribution integrations or a separate reading-analytics service. Automatic advertising/device-identifier collection and optional RevenueCat diagnostics are disabled in the current integration.

Payment information and service providers

Google Play processes Android purchases; Apple processes iOS purchases. BOOKTOT and RevenueCat do not receive your complete payment-card number from these in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes subscription information on our behalf. The stores process store-account and payment information under their own policies. See RevenueCat’s privacy information and data processing terms, Google’s Privacy Policy, and Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Support messages

If an adult emails us, we receive their email address and whatever they include. We use this to respond and address the request. Our business mailbox is hosted through Bluehost. Do not send children’s personal information, passwords, card details or private developer keys. We may request limited transaction information to locate a subscription; please redact unrelated details. A support request does not subscribe you to marketing.

Sharing and international processing

We share information with service providers as needed for the purposes above, and where required by law or to address fraud or security issues. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Our providers may process information in other countries, where different laws and lawful government-access rules apply. Access to subscription records and support correspondence is restricted to those who need it.

Retention and protection

Local reading records remain on the device until removed or overwritten, subject to device backups. Subscription records are retained for as long as necessary to provide and restore access, resolve billing disputes, prevent fraud and meet legal recordkeeping obligations. Support messages are retained only as needed to handle the request and relevant follow-up or legal obligations. Records no longer needed are deleted or de-identified, including through our providers where applicable. Provider backup removal may occur later under their retention processes. We use reasonable safeguards; no service can promise absolute security.

Your choices and children’s information

An adult may email info@booktot.com to request access, correction, deletion, information about providers, or to raise a privacy concern. A parent or guardian may also ask us to review or delete information associated with their child and stop further collection where applicable. We may need limited information to verify authority and locate the relevant app or purchase record. We do not require a child’s name to make a request. Some records may need to be retained by law. Requests about an Apple or Google account must also be made to that provider. Deleting app or RevenueCat records does not cancel a store subscription, and a subsequent restore may recreate records needed to verify it. If we learn that a child has submitted personal information beyond the limited operational information described here, we will address it and delete it where appropriate.

Permissions and external links

The app does not request camera, microphone, contacts or precise-location access for reading. Stories use supplied narration rather than recording a child. Opening a policy or store-management link opens an external service whose own policies apply. Visiting our website is covered by the website notice.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when our practices change and show the revision date. Where additional notice or consent is legally required, we will provide it before the relevant change. Contact: BOOKTOT Inc., info@booktot.com.
